- MIWAKO Grain Milk 700g (Lactose Free, Gluten Free) - 16% OFF!!
Your all time favourite grain milk beverage’s name has been changed from MIWA to MIWAKO early in 2018 to reflect its enhanced grain profile. Its main grains (Organic Quinoa, Millet & Brown Rice – including GABA) are now sourced from Korea instead of France and is much more finer and soluble when compared to the old version.
MIWAKO Milk is a lactose-free formula specially formulated for growing children who needs a wide variety of nutrients for growth and development. It promotes healthy brain development and proper nerve function. MIWAKO is a highly nutritious and an easily digestible food for children above 12 months old.
MIWAKO Milk contains ingredients which are naturally gluten-free and nutritious which are rich in vitamins, minerals and protein minus the casein making it an ideal replacement for lactose-intolerant children.
It consists of Organic Quinoa, Organic Millet, Brown Rice, GABA (gamma-amino butyric acid) rich Germinated Brown Rice, DHA from sea algae, Fructo-Oligosaccharide (FOS) and “PISANE”Pea Protein, a vegetable source of protein, (without the worry of allergic response to soy) and Essential Fatty Acids (from Flaxseed).
Understanding Lactose Intolerance
Lactose intolerance is the inability to digest the milk sugar lactose, causing gastrointestinal symptoms of flatulence, bloating, cramps, and diarrhea in some individuals. This results from a shortage of the lactase enzymes which break down lactose into its simpler forms, glucose and galactose. You are incapable of fully digesting the milk sugar if your lactase level diminishes.
Symptoms and Distress
Symptoms of abdominal bloating, cramps, flatulence, diarrhea, nausea, borborygmi (rumbling stomach), or vomiting after consuming lactose are just an easy pointer to the body which lactose were not digested properly. It is common for those with inflammatory bowel disease to experience gastrointestinal symptoms after lactose ingestion.
If you have conditions that impair lactase production, such as Crohn’s disease, you will also benefit from lactose-free milk. The milk does not fill your bowels with excess fluid or gas, which are common symptoms of people who are not able to digest lactose.
Dairy products are the most prevalent cause of colic and cow’s milk might cause distress to your infant. Drinking lactose-free milk reduce chances that your baby will suffer from colic. Nevertheless, it still provides the important nutrients that your body requires for good health.
GABA from Germinated Brown Rice
Germinated brown rice, also known as “sprouted brown rice” can be obtained by soaking and sprouting the brown rice in water for hours. This process elevate the levels of proteins and good enzymes in the germinated brown rice including essential components such as ferulic acid, lysine, magnesium, potassium, vitamin E, niacin, vitamin B 6, thiamine, and dietary fiber. These released nutrients aids in better absorption during digestion and prevent intestinal irritations, inflammations and allergies.
It is estimated that sprouted brown rice contains four times more fiber, three times more magnesium and B vitamins, more E vitamin, and higher antioxidants compared to white rice. The most touted health benefit of germinated brown rice is the presence of an acid amino called gama-aminobutyric acid (GABA) which works as a neurotransmitter in the body.
GABA is an amino acid which acts as an inhibitory neurotransmitter for the central nervous system. It blocks nerve impulses so that nerve cells do not fire too frequently. It is viewed by some as our body’s natural calming chemical as it ensures balance in the functioning of our nervous system. In the Journal of Neuropsychiatry and Clinical Neuroscience, researchers found that study subjects having ADHD has decreased levels of GABA. A study conducted at Japan’s Kyorin University Medical School concluded that GABA supplementation helped children to focus mentally and to deal with routine stress more effective.
Interestingly, the germinated brown rice contains a large amount of live enzymes which can decompose the rich minerals into components that can be easily absorbed by human body. Enzyme in germinated brown rice is awakened to become a live enzyme, so original solid and indigestible portions are improved to increase greatly the nutrition. The lysine content in germinated brown rice is approximately 2 times brown rice and 4 times white rice.
Algae derived DHA is as effective as DHA from fish oil, benefiting especially both eye and brain development while omitting the worries of ocean-borne contaminants, decent for children consumption.
Organic Quinoa (Mother of all grains) & Millet
Organic Quinoa is a Grade “A” and nutrient-dense food which contains all essential amino acids thus plenty of muscle-building blocks sufficient for childhood growth. It is absolutely fibrous with low glycemic index to fulfill one’s satiation longer. It is rich in Vitamin A, phosphorus and calcium (promote strong bone and teeth) and magnesium (induces energy production (ATP), improves bone integrity and quality sleep).
Similarly, Organic Millet is rich in minerals such as copper, phosphorus, manganese and magnesium. Millet contains many phytonutrients (known as phenolics) which are powerful antioxidants to act against harmful toxins for better immune system. Besides, it is a prebiotic (food for probiotic) that help to maintain healthy digestive system and does not feed pathogenic yeast (candida).
Prebiotic source of FOS (fructo oligosacchride) is derived from “Chicory Root Extract” which benefits guthealth of children. Nutrients found in chicory root itself include vitamin C, vitamin K, choline, and beta carotene. Chicory root is also a good source of dietary fiber, particularly soluble fiber, in it’s extracted form. FOS multiplies the number of beneficial bacteria in your child’s gut. Good bacteria manufacture vitamin K and certain B vitamins.
FOS improve digestive health by creating a healthy intestinal flora, which helps the body break down food and assimilate food nutrients better, promoting intestinal motility and bowel regularity bulking up stool.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: What actually is in MIWAKO?
A: MIWAKO Milk is a lactose free formulation with natural ingredients such as; GABA from Germinated Brown Rice, Pea Protein, Prebiotic; GOS (galacto Oligosaccharide), Plant DHA, Organic Quinoa, Organic Millet and Brown Rice.
Q: Is MIWAKO Milk an alternative to dairy?

Q: Can MIWAKO Milk’s nutrition surpass normal milk?
A: MIWAKO Milk is nutritious in many ways; it does not just focus on growth, but an overall well-being of growing children that needs a wider scope of nutrients which is natural and safe.
Q: “Pea Protein”, I have never heard of, what is it?
A: The Protein in MIWAKO Milk is “Yellow Pea” imported from Belgium under the name “PISANE”. Yellow peas supply a unique array of amino acids, the building blocks of body tissue (including skin, hair and nails), muscles, DNA/RNA, hormones, enzymes that help your body function normally, and even your immune system.
About Pea Protein
Pea protein imported from Belgium sold under the trade name of “PISANE” is the protein we use in the formulation. It has a high Lysine content; Lysine cannot be made in the body and must therefore be consumed through the diet. Lysine also appears to help absorb calcium and plays an important role in the formation of collagen—the building block of connective tissue such as bones, cartilage, skin, tendons. It supports the normal growth and development of children and plays a role in the maintenance of a healthy immune system.
Insufficient lysine can lead to fatigue, nausea, and dizziness, loss of appetite, agitation, bloodshot eyes, slow growth, anemia, and reproductive disorders.
30% Iron Content
Iron is an integral part of human physiology and is required for the transportation of oxygen throughout the body as well as regulation of cell growth and differentiation. Plant-based foods provide a source of non-heme iron for the body to absorb. Pea protein provides 30% of the iron required per day in a single serving.
Some individuals simply cannot tolerate egg, milk and soy-derived protein due to allergies. For example, the milk sugar called lactose can cause severe allergic reactions that result in unwanted gastrointestinal side effects like nausea, bloating, diarrhea or vomiting. Yellow pea protein powder is suitable for almost any user.
About Plant DHA
DHA omega-3 is to our brains as calcium is to our bones. It accounts for 97 percent of the omega-3 fats in the brain. Yet, many people don’t get enough of this nutrient. Because MIWA’s DHA does not come from fish, therefore, there is no risk of ocean-borne contaminants. It is the algae that contain high in omega 3 and not the fish, but due to the consumption of it the fish also takes up omega 3.
Omega-3 fatty acids are “good fats,” and are among the most important nutrients lacking in many peoples’ diets today. DHA is the most abundant omega-3 fat in our brains. And, because our bodies don’t efficiently make DHA, we need to supplement this important nutrient in order to keep our brains functioning optimally.
Omega-3 fatty acids, such as DHA, have been shown to promote good health. Research suggests that DHA may:
2-3 scoops mix with 150ml of warm water, mix well and ready to be served.
Keep in a cool dry place away from heat and direct sunlight. Once open, consume it within 30 days.
