How To Care For Your Baby Playmat

A playmat is great for your child's growth and development. It provides security and comfort for your baby's playtime. However, if is not cleaned regularly, your child may fall sick, from rashes to allergies to colds and flu as it becomes a breeding ground for germs and bacteria. And we absolutely do not want that to happen especially if your child is spending a lot of time on the mat. Just like any other baby gear, you'll want to clean it on a regular basis.

Knowing what your baby's playmat is and its material is important for an easy cleaning process. Most of the time you can find everything you need to know about the playmat cleaning guideline on the packaging. However, if it doesn't include a guideline, the best way to clean your baby's playmat is simply by wiping the surface with a clean cloth or towel. If needed, you may use neutral detergents as harsh chemical cleaners may damage the playmat's surface.

Other than keeping the playmat clean, here are other tips on how to care for your baby's playmat.

  • Avoid using vacuum cleaners with bristles heads as they could cause scratches on the playmat surface.
  • Avoid direct contact with heating elements as these may damage the playmat. Also, try not to leave the playmat in extremely cold or hot temperatures.
  • Do note some pens, crayons, and markers may leave permanent stains. Try putting some lining underneath your child's drawings so the colours do not transfer on the playmat.
  • Do not place any furniture or appliances on the surface of the playmat for a long period of time to prevent permanent compression.
  • Use the original packaging box for storage when the playmat is not in use.
