Baby Rocker vs. Baby Bouncer: Which Is Better?

Baby Rocker vs. Baby Bouncer: Which Is Better?

It is impossible to hold your baby all the time. As much as you would love to carry your baby around and give cuddles, let's be honest, it's not practical and your back might hurt in the process.

Many parents seek a comfortable yet safe seat to put their baby down while they are doing chores. There are two gears that come to mind which are a baby rocker and a baby bouncer. Both serve the same purpose - to gently soothe your baby using motions, by rocking or bouncing.

What are baby rockers and baby bouncers?

  • Baby rockers can be powered either mechanically or by motion. Rockers can look like a reclined baby seat or come in the form of small cradles.
  • Baby bouncers are powered by the baby's movements or by giving it a nudge using your hand or foot. They are usually smaller in size.

Baby bouncers

Pros of baby bouncers

  • Natural motion: Since baby bouncers' motions are activated by the baby's movements, this means you won't ever have to worry about getting batteries or finding a place to plug it in.
  • Portable: Baby bouncers are often smaller in size and pretty easy to move around, making them super practical.
  • Simple to use: All you have to do is put your baby down in a bouncer and your baby will do the rest!
  • Quite: There is no built-in motor, hence, no noise. You and your baby will enjoy the silence.

Cons of baby bouncers

  • Outgrown quickly: Baby bouncers are designed to be used from birth up until 6 months old, thus, they are outgrown quickly.
  • Limited motion: Baby bouncers can only move so much as they are powered by the baby's movements. Once your baby falls asleep and stops moving, they might wake up since they are no longer bounced.

Baby rockers

Pros of baby rockers

  • Varying motions: Baby rockers usually come with a range of different rocking patterns to choose from with adjustable motion intensities. This way you are able to find which rocking mode works best for your little one.
  • Continuous sleep: Baby rockers will continue to rock even your baby falls asleep, hence, your baby stays asleep longer.

Cons of baby rockers

  • Not as portable: Baby rockers can be moved around but it's hard to move around some large rockers with your baby in it. And if you really need to plug in to activate the rocker, you will lose its portability even more as you are limited to where you can place them.
  • Higher price tag: Baby rockers usually have higher price tags as they need motors to operate.

At the end of the day, it all comes down to your preference. Baby bouncers or baby rockers, the biggest difference between the two is how they move. Click here to browse our range of baby bouncers and rockers.
